For Theory, History, Research, I took the class Fundamentals of Argumentation. This class was mainly focused on doing debates, so I have included the speech briefs I made for both my first and my last debates. The first consisted of an affirmative and a negative side that had to debate over a policy controversy that affects today’s society. Then in the last debate, we had to debate the same topic but debate the other side that we didn’t debate the first time around. During these assignments, we learned how to debate in a very specific way and when I signed up for this class, I was hoping that it would help me be more comfortable taking in front of people and debate and argue with others which are both very important for lawyers. Even though this class wasn’t necessarily what I was expecting, it did help me become more comfortable speaking in front of people and I now know that I can prepare a case and debate and argue for it, no matter what I actually believe.
Attached below you will find my speech brief from my first debate where I was on the affirmative side, and we debated that physician assisted should be legal. After, you will find my speech brief from my last debate where we debated the same topic except on the negative side.
