Revision Assignment

For the class Writing Design and Circulation, we did a revision assignment where I had to take a piece of writing from a previous class at the University of Denver and I had to revise this previous assignment and recreate it in a completely different genre and for a different audience. I decided to take a piece I had written in the class Constitutional Law I: Governmental Structures and Powers which is a Political Science course. For the original assignment, I had to assess the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization Supreme Court decision (as well as it’s overruled precedents, Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey) discuss whether the outcome of this case will indicate more or less polarization in U.S. politics, if the result strengthens or weakens federalism, and if the result strengthens or weakens the separation of powers.
For the revision assignment, I decided to take this academic essay I wrote previously and turn it into an infographic. I wanted the piece to still seem academic in a while in order for it to be informative, but the intended audience is not an academic professional this time. The audience is meant to be people who are interested in this topic and in today's political climate, many more people are interested and want to learn more about this topic. I do think that mainly women and individuals who are more liberal would be the true target audience of this new piece. Anyone can read my infographic and learn from it, but I would expect the audience to be mainly women and people who are more liberal who want to learn more about the topic.
Below you will see both my new revision assignment as well as the original piece that I created. Enjoy!
